The Position
The Team Lead, State Government Affairs oversees the State Lobbyist team, in all aspects of Novo Nordisk's specific State agendas, particularly strategic goals, and resource recommendations related to the Novo Nordisk Political Action Committee (as applicable), trade associations, consultants, and documentation and publication tools. This position will focus on planning, communicating, advocating, and executing a proactive state government affairs strategy that advances the mission and goals of Novo Nordisk's enterprise strategy as it relates to state legislation and policies. This position will also work strategically to defeat or mitigate decisions or actions by the state administrations that could negatively or positively affect our business or patients. Accountable for relationships for a substantial portion of political appointees within an Administration, including communicating, advocating, and executing Novo Nordisk's policy positions. Proactively collaborates with internal partners on all aspects of state legislative, grassroots, and Political Action Committee goals. This position further serves as one of the company's primary contacts/advocates responsible for developing strategic lobbying plans, as well as communicating and promoting the company's positions directly to state representatives. Ensures Government Affairs maintains strong collaboration with all other Public Affairs teams by establishing and maintaining close working relationships with Policy and Alliance Development. Oversees and ensures accurate and timely compliance with all lobbying-related reporting requirements for NNI personnel.
Relationships
This position reports to the VP, Public Affairs and serves as the people leader over the State Lobbyist team. This position will interact with many external parties, but primarily members of the state government offices and political appointees of an Administration, contractors working for Novo Nordisk and other entities and trade associations. Interacts with various people internally, both in Princeton and Copenhagen, particularly senior staff members involved in forming Novo Nordisk's positions on public policy issues. Also interacts with Congressional stakeholders, including but not limited to: State policymaker’s health staff in both the Executive and Legislative branches; as well as the Insurance Commissioners and Department staff. Members of Committee staff of key Senate and Assembly Committees, Leadership, NNI representatives, and others. State Legislative Member organizations, including but not limited to the National Association of Governors, Republican Association of Governors, Democratic Association of Governors, National Conference of State Legislatures, National League of Cities, National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, National Black Caucus of State Legislators, and National Association of Insurance Commissioners. External organizations, which are involved with state Government Affairs activities related to Novo Nordisk’s interest, including PhRMA, BIO, and other industry coalitions. Serve as Team Leader in key areas, and ensure successful application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way. This position is based in the Washington, D.C. office.

The base compensation range for this position is $181,670 to $317,920. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
