Job Title: Sr. Functional Test Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Functional Test Engineer to join our quality assurance team and lead functional and integration testing activities across complex enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, hands-on experience in test case development and execution, and the ability to troubleshoot across UI, backend, and interface layers. This role involves both manual and automated testing , with a focus on ensuring product stability, usability, and compliance with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive test cases and test scripts based on business requirements, user stories, technical specifications, and design documents.
- Execute manual and automated test cases across web, mobile, APIs, and backend systems.
- Perform UI testing and end-to-end integration testing , including batch jobs, scheduled processes, and 3rd-party interfaces.
- Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate backend data, ensure data integrity, and support ETL validation.
- Conduct web services/API testing using tools like Postman, SOAP UI, or similar.
- Perform root cause analysis of test defects and collaborate with developers to verify and validate bug fixes.
- Maintain traceability of test cases to business and technical requirements.
- Document and report test results, issues, risks, and project status clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement by proactively identifying gaps and inefficiencies in testing and suggesting enhancements.
- Work independently and collaboratively across development, QA, business analysis, and DevOps teams to resolve production and QA issues.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in software QA or functional testing roles, preferably in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands-on experience with functional, UI, integration, and regression testing .
- Strong expertise in writing SQL queries for data validation and backend testing.
- Experience with API/Web Services testing using tools like Postman, ReadyAPI/SOAP UI, or RestAssured.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and executing automation scripts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including defect analysis and verification.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
Preferred Skills: - Experience in tools such as JIRA, TestRail, ALM, or Zephyr for test management and defect tracking.
- Familiarity with automation tools like Selenium, Cypress, or similar.
- Experience in CI/CD environments and version control tools such as Git.
- Exposure to testing in cloud-based platforms or SaaS applications is a plus.
