Job Description

Department: Operations / Sustainability
Reports To:   Director of Supply Chain Management
Location: Woodlawn – Building C

Position Summary:
The Manager of the Thrift Outlet Store is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day oversight of a high-volume thrift outlet store. This position ensures that all efforts are aligned to maximize revenue, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize landfill contributions. The manager serves as the senior leader of a multifunctional facility, driving performance across outlet sales and recycling streams through effective team leadership, vendor relations, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the daily operations of the thrift outlet store and co-located recycling/salvage operations.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve throughput, quality control, and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and organizational standards.
  • Monitor inventory flow, pricing strategies, and merchandising approaches aligned with secondary market demands.
Team Management
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff across outlet and recycling functions.
  • Create and manage team schedules to ensure coverage and efficiency.
  • Drive a positive, performance-based culture rooted in accountability, respect, and development.
Customer & Community Engagement
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and in alignment with organizational values.
  • Promote the mission of sustainability and reuse within the community and among customers.
Financial & Performance Accountability
  • Manage budget, payroll, and operating costs to ensure profitability.
  • Analyze sales data, diversion rates, and other KPIs to make informed business decisions.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on operational and environmental performance.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in retail management or warehouse operations, or sustainability-focused environments, including team supervision.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, manage vendor relationships, and drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced, physically active environment including warehouse and retail floor.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs., and use of standard office and warehouse equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
