Job Title : Packaging Engineer
Location : Kansas City, MO
Type: 6 month contract
Compensation: $50-$57.33/hr
Overview Leading Food manufacturing company looking for an experienced Packaging Engineer. Ideal candidates should have a bachelors degree and 5+ years of Package Engineering experience including a solid understanding of the product commercialization process from design to manufacturing.
Responsibilities - Strong ability to understand Machine/Material interface to build strong quality standards and drive plant performance.
- Conduct and/or manage commissioning, start-up, supplier experiments, trials, and analyses to validate and advance technical packaging opportunities
- Effectively partner with supplier resources against key initiatives, showing a bias for results
- Collaborate and influence both internally and externally
- Provide effective communication and documentation of work including technical plans, specification creation/modification, experimental reports, financial analysis, and management updates
- Build strong relationships with key businesses and platform partners in order to support new product launches and other key initiatives
- Proactively lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to develop margin improvement and technical innovation opportunities
- Build internal and external networks, relationships and understanding of internal and external customer needs to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives
- Build and leverage technical depth of technical material knowledge to drive innovation and margin improvements
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of Package Engineering experience
- Solid understanding of product commercialization process from packaging design to manufacturing
- Food manufacturing environment experience
- Experience with cartoning equipment, case packing equipment, and other packaging systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in application of process engineering solutions that apply to consumer packaged goods
- Experience creating technical packaging drawings
- Experience with working on team projects at corporate and plant level, and with engineering firms, vendors and contractors
- Good interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively network face-to-face with business teams
- Self-directed, motivated and good time management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Office 365, SharePoint, TOPS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in the manufacturing industry, food industry, or related field
- Experience in new production startup process
- Experience using Interspec, Optiva or a similar Product Lifecycle Management system
