Job Description

Lead Software Engineer at Capital One: Build and pioneer technology solutions solving complex business problems. Work in a fast‑paced collaborative environment with makers, breakers, doers, and disruptors. Lead transformative projects and marry data with emerging technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full‑stack systems to create solutions meeting regulatory needs.
• Share passion for tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineering community members.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that empower millions of Americans.
• Leverage programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, along with RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply)
• At least 1 year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• 7+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
• 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks
• 1+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

Salary ranges by location:

• Chicago, IL: $175,800 - $200,700
• McLean, VA: $193,400 - $220,700
• Richmond, VA: $175,800 - $200,700
