As a vital member of the Center for Perioperative Care, you’ll play an essential role in creating a welcoming, organized, and efficient environment for patients, families, and staff. You’ll be the communication hub of the department—coordinating patient flow, supporting the surgical team, and ensuring every detail is handled with care and precision.
This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM, no weekend, no nights, no call, and no holidays.
What You’ll Do:
Greet and assist patients, family members, visitors, and staff, providing a calm and professional presence during a critical time in the surgical process.
Maintain and update patient flow processes to ensure timely coordination of preoperative and postoperative procedures.
Manage all departmental communications, including answering phones, paging, faxing, and distributing patient and unit correspondence.
Support the surgical team by accurately entering physician orders, updating patient records, and maintaining documentation according to hospital standards.
Monitor and maintain par levels for supplies, forms, and downtime materials; ensure family lounge and waiting areas are clean, stocked, and welcoming.
Coordinate logistics such as scheduling patient transports, completing errands, and maintaining logs and reports.
Ensure all office and unit equipment (computers, printers, fax machines, etc.) are in working order and follow up on any repair requests as needed.
Adhere strictly to hospital policies, including HIPAA, safety, and infection control standards.
Participate in audits, charge reconciliation, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to a supportive team environment by assisting colleagues, mentoring new staff, and seeking opportunities for learning and growth.
