SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday
HOURS: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-Time
JOB SUMMARY: Maintain accurate, complete accounting records relating to development and internal/external construction activities. Ensure the revenue and costs associated with construction and development activities are properly recorded, and relevant information is provided to project and executive management to keep them informed and to support the decisions. Ensure compliance with GAAP/SEC guidelines and established company policies and procedures. This position requires the ability to coordinate accounting functions with vice president, project managers and Superintendents who oversee and perform construction work. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to recognize areas of accounting risk and direct resources to understand and remediate those risks.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement standards on which to measure progress and accountability of workflow. Work with other team leaders to identify necessary process improvements. Determine innovative solutions and develop best practices to routine processes to gain efficiencies in workflow.
- Handle accounting transactions leading up to month end close and preparation of financial statements. Transactions include processing regular and adjusting journal entries, maintaining the general ledger and processing appropriate bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and other required ad hoc reporting for management.
- Assist in annual budget review and budget management process.
- Coordinate and direct accounting/reporting process to meet established internal and external deadlines for development & construction activities.
- Review and approve all journal entries, GAAP statements, consolidated balance sheets and income statements, and operating statements (detailed and summary formats).
- Oversee general ledger maintenance review of journal entries, cash receipts/disbursements, and inspection of general ledgers for accuracy.
- Lead the design and implementation of enhanced internal reporting process to provide executives complete information to better manage the Company with financial analysis relative to budgets, forecasts and executive expectations. Provide information to management team to improve quality of future budgets and forecasts.
- Administer job costing system for set up of new projects/tasks; perform/review periodic budget to actual reporting, and prepare/review quarterly project cash flows.
- Direct the contracts management function to ensure all project data is captured and information is provided for job management.
- Guide the team in the design and maintenance of efficient processes and procedures related to tracking, reporting and billing (where applicable) construction related revenues and expenditures.
- Be a mentor and leader, developing teamwork and technical and professional competency with construction management team. Provide staff development opportunities to enhance skills and provide career growth, including training/education and performance improvement recommendations as required.
COMPETENCIES:
- Technical – Demonstrates knowledge in General construction, Mechanical, Pipeline and Civil work. Be familiar with natural gas and oil industry. Must be familiar with unit rates, material and equipment pricing, labor pricing and other estimate components and techniques.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this job, this position must perform all duties and responsibilities accurately and satisfactorily while complying with specific deadlines. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform this job.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting and CPA certification.
- 5-10 years or more experience in construction related accounting position encompassing all stages of accounting process (journal entries through final reports).
- Must have 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Willingness to work overtime, as needed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret project schedules, common scientific and technical journals, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical requirements and legal documents, and government regulations.
- Ability to write highly complex reports and business correspondence and understand such reports and correspondence when received from other sources.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all project levels, from craft employees to project and corporate management and clients.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Suite general products.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, permutations and quadratic equations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operation to such tasks and frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
