Position Summary: The Clinical and Administrative Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering both clinical and administrative assistance. This dual-role position requires proficiency in clinical tasks such as patient care, medical procedures, and office duties such as scheduling, patient intake, and medical records management. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Clinical Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Greet and prepare patients for examination by obtaining and recording their medical history, vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.), and other relevant health data.
Assist physicians or healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
Administer basic medical procedures and treatments, such as wound care, injections, immunizations, and specimen collection (e.g., blood, urine).
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring that equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures under supervision.
Provide patient education on health management, treatments, and procedures as directed by physicians.
Clinical Documentation:
Document patient information, including medical history, physical exams, and treatment plans in electronic health records (EHR).
Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient charts and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Assist with the ordering and preparation of diagnostic tests, procedures, and medications as per physician orders.
Specimen Handling and Lab Work:
Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and accurate labeling.
Process and deliver specimens to the lab according to established protocols.
Patient Communication:
Communicate with patients regarding test results, follow-up instructions, and scheduling of appointments as directed by the healthcare provider.
Provide support and guidance to patients during procedures and treatments to reduce anxiety and ensure comfort.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Front Desk and Patient Interaction:
Answer phone calls, schedule patient appointments, and manage the clinic’s calendar.
Greet patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Verify patient insurance information and update demographic details.
Medical Records Management:
Maintain and organize patient records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist in preparing and processing medical forms, including billing and insurance claims.
Billing and Coding Support:
Assist in the preparation of billing documents and insurance claims, ensuring that codes for procedures and diagnoses are accurate.
Collect co-pays and process payments from patients as needed.
Supply Management:
Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies, ensuring that the clinical area is properly stocked and organized.
Order supplies and ensure the clinic has necessary equipment for daily operations.
Insurance and Referral Coordination:
Assist patients with insurance verifications, referrals, and pre-authorizations as needed.
Coordinate between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure smooth and timely care delivery.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in both clinical and administrative roles.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, medical terminology, and patient care.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing/coding practices.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other office-related software.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move medical equipment and supplies.
Stand for extended periods and assist with patient mobility as necessary.
Work Environment:
Clinical office settings such as medical offices, urgent care centers, or outpatient clinics.
Patient-facing role requiring direct interaction with patients in both clinical and office settings.
