One of our clients is seeking an experienced Azure Senior Security Engineer to support the security needs of web and Windows applications. The engineer will focus on securing Azure cloud infrastructure and ensuring compliance with state and federal cybersecurity standards.
Design and implement secure cloud architecture within Azure for both internal and public-facing applications.
Secure Azure environments using native tools: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Key Vault, and Policy/Blueprints.
Configure and manage Azure Active Directory (AAD), including Conditional Access, MFA, and identity protection.
Implement Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
Secure hybrid connectivity (NSGs, ASGs, VPN, ExpressRoute).
Conduct threat modeling, risk analysis, and vulnerability management.
Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
Script and automate tasks using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform.
Ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other applicable regulations.
Prepare and present security documentation, risk mitigation plans, and architecture reports.
Participate in Agile/Scrum teams and engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5+ years of IT or cloud security experience
3+ years securing Microsoft Azure environments
Experience with Azure Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Key Vault, Security Center
Proficiency with AAD, RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access, MFA
Strong experience with NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute, hybrid connectivity security
Skilled in scripting with PowerShell, Bicep, ARM, or Terraform
Proven ability to integrate security into DevOps pipelines
Experience preparing architecture documentation and compliance reports
Strong knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR compliance standards
Experience with threat modeling, SIEM/SOAR tools, security alert response
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Industry certifications (any of the following):
Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (SC-300)
Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
CISSP, CISM, Security+
Candidate must reside in the United States for the duration of the assignment
Strong communication and documentation skills required
Experience working in Agile teams and regulated environments preferred
